Yangon--As a measure to prevent the spreading of COVID-19, Myanma Railways (MR) is working on the temperature screenings on passengers and the disinfection of circular and express trains.
As a priority, the MR is carrying out preventive measures against COVID-19 at crowded railway stations. The MR puts hand sanitizers at every stations.
U Aung Naing Myint, Assistant Manager of Division-7 at Yangon Railways Station said: “The MR regularly sprays trains to prevent mosquitoes, flies and mice. Now the MR is paying more attention to the disinfection of trains as the Ministry of Health and Sports instructed. The MR sprays disinfectant on express trains every day and circular trains at least every other day. The MR’s information department announces the latest information about coronavirus every 30 minutes.”
“The MR has a plan to operate the special trains if the number of passengers increases during the Thingyan period,” he added.
There have been no confirmed cases in Myanmar yet. In an attempt to contain the spread of COVID-19, the government has banned mass gatherings, events, festivals and closed schools, bars and KTVs untill 30 April.TOP IMAGE: Temperature screening at Yangon Railways Station. (Photo-Kyi Naing)
