“We are not using it now as it will affect mainly for YBS and commuters. We are weighing up the pros and cons for them,” she said.
The card system will be used at YBS, Water Bus and shopping centers and they have taken time to prepare for it, she said.
“We cannot say the exact date as we are checking it up in every level. People can understand the process,” said Hla Aung, Associate Secretary of YRTA.
The payment system was start installed in November 2019 and it is installed in some YBS lines.
A total of 100 bus lines are running under YRTA and 6,635 buses are registered under YRTA. About 1.8 million commuters are using public transport daily.
The payment system was being introduced on January 16, 2019.
