A wild male elephant, about 8 years old, was found dead on 6 February, with its skin, ears, and tusk removed by suspected poachers, said authorities.
Officials from the local Forest Department estimated that the male elephant was killed three days ago in the Hsinma forest in Ngapudaw Township of Ayeyawady Region.
The authorities found the carcass after they were informed by a villager from Pyawgone Village.
A combined team comprising officials from the Forest Police Force, Township Forest Department, and other Wild Elephant Protection teams inspected the carcass. The elephant measured 6 feet by 6 inches. The Ngapudaw Township Forest Department and Ngayotekaung Police are continuing their investigations to arrest those connected with the case.
