YANGON-Due to extremely severe cyclonic storm Amphan, the strong wind ranging at least from 25 m.p.h to 30 m.p.h can strike in Mandalay, Sagaing, Magway, Chin and Rakhine State, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
“The circle of the storm is wide. So, there will be powerful wind. Five of States and Regions are needed to warn against the storm,” said DMH’s Director General Dr Kyaw Moe Oo.
According to the observations of DMH, this morning, the extremely severe cyclonic storm Amphan over the west central Bay and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal has moved to northwards. It is centered at about 120 nautical miles south-southeast of Paradip (Odisha-India), about 195 nautical miles south of Digha (india), about 280 nautical miles southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh),about 330 nautical miles west-southwest of Maungdaw and about 345 nautical miles west-southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar).
Although the cyclone Amphan isn’t forecasted to move Myanmar and it is yellow level stage.
The highest wind speed is 130mph.
The DMH also announced that the extremely severe cyclonic storm Amphan will be moving towards north-northeast and it can pass through the coasts in India and Bangladesh.
Due to the cyclone Amphan, rain or thundershowers will be scattered in eastern Shan State and Kayah states, fairly widespread in Magway region and northern and southern Shan States and widespread in the remaining regions and states and isolated heavy falls in Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon regions, Chin and Rakhine and Mon States, according to the DMH.TOP IMAGE: Rain pours in Yangon
