State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and Ministry of Transportation and Communications awarded certificates to seven captains and crew members of Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), that landed their plane safely at Tada-U airport in Mandalay Region after nose landing gear did not work.

The ceremony was held at Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on May 16.

“In summary, we wrote the certificate of honour in general and sent to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The State Counsellor asked questions about captain crews and cabin crews. She read it and corrected it before she signed the certificates. She is very serious about it,” said Min Thu, Union Minister for Union Government Office.

Thant Zin Maung, Union Minister for Transportation and Communication said he honoured the captain and crew members for landing safely after a technical failure occurred on May 12.

The Embraer 190 plane from the MNA en-route from Yangon to Mandalay was made emergency landing at Tada-U airport as the nose landing gear was not working.
