Local and foreign investments create over 110,000 jobs in 2017-18 FY

Local and foreign investments allowed by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) in 2017-18 FY will create over 110,000 job opportunities, according to Directorate of Investment and Companies Administration (DICA).
        A total of 93,197 domestic workers and 2,508 foreign workers will be employed in 222 foreign investments in this fiscal year. Over 21,500 domestic workers and 467 foreign workers will be employed in local investment sector in 2017-18 FY.
        More people are moved to Yangon region due to increasing number of job opportunities, according to a survey conducted by International Labour Organization.
        About 42 per cent of people living in Yangon region are from other states and regions and 26 of them are moved here for their jobs, says the survey.
        More migration occurred in the country since 2011 when the country’s economy has changed, according to a joint survey conducted by World Bank and Livelihoods and Food Security Trust Fund in 2015.
        According to a survey conducted by JobNet.com.mm till at the end of March 2018, about 76 per cent of people, who are looking for job, came to Yangon region as most of the foreign investments have entered in the region. About 70 per cent of 100,000 job opportunities allowed by the MIC are in Yangon region and followed by Bago region with 8.23 per cent and Mandalay region with 7.47 per cent respectively.
        Although Myanmar has labour force, there is a little skilled labour force.
