Rain is forecast for the next two days, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
A depression in the Bay of Bengal would trigger thundershowers across the country, said Hla Htun, deputy director of the department.
He added: “The rain was triggered by the depression. After two days, some regions including Yangon will get less rain.”
According to November-15 observations, the depression has moved 160 miles south of Visakhapatnam in India.
It is not moving towards the Myanmar coast, and the present stage of the depression is coded yellow.
Under the influence of the depression, fairly widespread rain or thundershowers are expected in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawady regions, Chin, Rakhine, Kachin and Shan states during next 48 hours.
