The host Vietnam forced play from the start with the loud support of their fans. Vietnam’s star player Phung Truong Luan responded with the opening goal at the ten-minute mark by pouncing on a rebound.
Myanmar stepped up their play in the second half, but made some mistakes and allowed the second goal of the match at 26 minutes when Vietnam’s Dhan Phat energetically slammed home a goal past Myanmar keeper Kyaw Htet Aung.
With a two-goal deficit, Myanmar used a power play and went on the attack. Kyaw Soe Moe scored Myanmar’s first goal by knocking in a corner kick.
Myanmar was now eager to even the score, and Nyein Min Soe complied by flicking the ball into the net from close range in a free kick at 37 minutes before ordinary play expired.
In the penalty shots, Myanmar’s keeper Kyaw Htet Aung saved two balls, but Vietnam was able to score twice.
Myanmar scored only once and settled for the bronze medal of the Championship, along with a place in next year’s AFC Futsal Championship 2018.
